I’m Hannah – lover of all things chocolate, breakfast food, Netflix, good reads, and lots of honey in my tea. Though a native Clevelander, I often thought of (and still do, at times!) the University of Dayton as home for the four years I spent there up until I graduated in 2016. In addition to studying, paper-writing, and late night reading sessions, my college days were also pretty full of baking adventures (some hits, some misses) — all of which were inevitably consumed, thanks to my funny, sarcastic, and always hungry roommates/friends/taste testers.
Aside from recipes for brownies, cookies, and other late-night snacking staples, you’ll also find recipes ranging from easy dinner ideas to more involved recipes for traditional European pastries and other sweet confectionary treats.
How did this little blog come about, you ask? It’s something I had been telling myself I would do for years, not to mention something quite a few family members and friends have been urging me to do for even longer. But, somehow, I’ve always felt too busy to make it a reality – until now. Food has always been an integral part of my life and upon considerate reflection, seems to be the heart and soul of so many of my happiest and fondest memories. From my first batch of Christmas sugar cookies made with the help and supervision of my big sister (which were from a Betty Crocker mix… shhh!), to my first triumph of the finicky french macaron, and all the successes (and failures) in-between, food has always been a constant in my life and a unifying force within my family and personal relationships.
So now that you know the “how,” it’s time to figure out the “why.” Yes, you read that right – I say “figure out” because I still haven’t fully decided what exactly I expect from this little blog of mine. At the very least, this will be a creative space to share and develop recipes through my own kitchen adventures as I try to expand upon my own knowledge and skill set. At the most, this might just be a first step towards the pursuit of a career in an industry I’ve only ever dreamt of being a part of. Regardless of the direction this blog chooses to take, I hope you’ll stick around for the journey and enjoy the recipes, stories, and ramblings (I tend to ramble) along the way.
